This project is part of a larger initiative to widen and improve the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) from Third Line to 1 km east of Trafalgar Road. Details of the proposed QEW improvements at Sixteen Mile Creek addressed under this contract include: · · · · · Twinning the Sixteen Mile Creek Bridge to the north of the existing bridge; Relocation of a water main crossing the Sixteen Mile Creek valley; Construction of a new section of noise wall in the College Park Subdivision; Extension of the pedestrian walkway under the east side of the bridge over Sixteen Mile Creek; and Implementation of mitigation measures to address potential impacts to natural features and wildlife in the Sixteen Mile Creek valley. The study has followed the approved environmental assessment process for a Group `B' Project as defined by the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (1999, as amended 2000), and included opportunities for public input throughout. A Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) was prepared and filed on the Public Record in December 2004 and received environmental clearance in November 2005. A Design and Construction Report has been prepared to document the environmental investigations, environmental impacts, proposed mitigation measures and how commitments outlined in TESR have been addressed.
