Not buckling the least bit after surrendering the first goal, Reding played with a great deal of intensity and pressured goaltender Giovanni Cardillo for lengthy stretches of play. "Our tackling and headers were great today and we really stayed focused after they got the first goal," said Royals captain Joey Melo. Added Reding coach Fernando Costa, "The big thing today was that our best players played like our best players." Erick Olazabel scored Reding's first two goals -- both on long blasts in low -- while Adam Stjepanovic delivered the insurance marker on a redirect header.
