www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday February 10, 2007 - 25 Hot start for Inglis' bantam curling rink Jeff Inglis' Oakville Curling Club rink got off to a great start at the Ontario Curling Association bantam boys curling championship. Inglis' rink, which includes vice Matthew Hardman, second Mike Kean and lead Erik Bocsy, was 3-0 following the first three draws of the provincial championship in Oshawa. Two other rinks, Kevin Lagerquist (Brampton) and Neil Sinclair (Manotick), in the eight-team field were also 3-0. Inglis opened with an 8-2 victory over Mathew Larson in the opening draw. Trailing 2-1, Inglis scored four in the fourth end and followed that with steals of two in the fifth and one in the sixth. The Oakville rink jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second draw but Geoff Spruit scored three in the third and stole another in the fourth to tie the game at four. After blanking the fifth, Inglis scored two in the sixth and another in the seventh. The closest game was in the third draw when Inglis scored a 7-5 victory over Pedro Malvar. Inglis built a 5-2 lead but Malvar came back to narrow the margin to 6-5 by scoring two in the seventh end. Inglis sealed the victory by scoring one in the eighth and final end. Round robin play continues today (Saturday) with the playoffs set for Sunday.
