Pottery, fine art, paintings, jewellery ­ you name it, it's on the tour. "It's a wide variety of media, fine arts, and a number of different styles and artists," said Lucy Erskine, whose jewellery art is included in the show for the second year running. In addition to six homes that will be showcasing art on Saturday and Sunday, the OAS studio on Bronte Rd. and the Harbour Banquet Conference Centre will also act as tour hosts. One of the benefits of the tour, the artists say, is its comfortable atmosphere. "It's different than being in a gallery," said Erskine. "Galleries can be intimidating, whereas this is more of an open, welcoming environment for people to meet and talk to the artists." That obviously has a lot of appeal, judging by the response from local art enthusiasts to the inaugural OAS Artist Studio Tour. "It was a pretty steady flow of people, and everyone was very excited to see such a high quality of art," Erskine said. "I had all together about 90 visitors in my house," she said. "It was really good." All participating artists are members of the OAS, which is a self-supporting and volunteer-run organization that receives no government support. Its members work to promote art and art education in the community. Following is a list of the venues and the artists on display at each one: OAS Office, 560 Bronte Rd., painters George Al-Bazi, Robert Boast-Cornish, Vivian Chan, Lil O'Reilly and Alan Robertson. Also showing at the office are potter Micheline Likas and painter and potter Dorothy Wilde. Painters are taking over the Harbour Banquet Center, 2340 Ontario St. On display there are Brenda Burke-Pacher, Sharane Gilbert, Helen Hendry, Ann Oakley, Marvin Olson, Deborah Cardinal Rhyason and painter and sculptor Mae Giroux. Pottery work by Margie Boden will be showcased at 381 Beechwood Cres., painter Bruce Outridge at unit 43 of 5555 Prince William Dr., Lucy Erskine's jewellery-art at 265 Glen Oak Dr., and Jim Paterson's paintings at 500 Orchard Dr. Painters Ed Boyer and Joyce Kellock will be showcased at 512 Falgarwood Dr., with painters John van der Hart, Beverley Dillon, and Gunta White at 2420 Eighth Line. The tour is one of six events organized by the OAS every year, and is free of cost. All of the art is available for purchase. The tour isn't doable by walking, but each venue is close to at least one other.
