Blakelock High School is preparing to induct two more of its graduates into its Hall of Fame. Madhur Anand and David Bradstreet will be inducted at a ceremony to take place on Friday, April 11 at 10 a.m. at the Rebecca Street high school. Invited guests will include previous year's inductees, Kay McDermott who is the daughter of Thomas A. Blakelock, local politicians and senior administration from the Halton District School Board, former and retired Blakelock staff and the families and friends of the inductees. Madhur is an assistant professor of science (ecology) at the University of Guelph. Her work focuses on the study of ecosystems. Anand's Ph.D. research, at the University of Western Ontario in 1977, won the Award for Excellence in Research and Technology Development from Ontario's Ministry of Environment and Energy. She holds a research grant for studies on the reorganization of ecosystems after man-made disturbance and Anand has published many papers and won many awards in her field of science. Bradstreet is a singer, songwriter, composer and producer. His 40-year career has seen him perform live in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. In 1977, Bradstreet won a Juno Award for Best New Male Vocalist for his album David Bradstreet. Other Juno Award nominations followed in 1998, 1999 and 2001 for Best Instrumental Album. In 1972, Bradstreet composed his major hit, Renaissance, which was recorded by Valdy. Since 1980, Bradstreet has been involved in record production, commercial music production, studio session work and he has 26 albums to his credit. He has produced music for the Special Olympics and PEI Confederation Bridge opening, and owns a recording studio in Toronto.
