This is the fourth year the Town has participated in the Greater Toronto Area 20-Minute Makeover. "Last year over 7,000 people joined us for our 20-Minute Oakville Makeover," Mayor Rob Burton said. "We look forward to seeing even more people out this year to help make Oakville the cleanest town in Canada." Residents and organizations can register for the event online at www.oakville.ca, over the phone by calling 905-815-6046, or in person at any one of the following Town-owned facilities: Glen Abbey Community Centre, Iroquois Ridge Community Centre, River Oaks Community Centre, Town Hall, Sir John Colborne Recreation Centre for Seniors, Oakville Seniors' Citizens Recreation Centre, and at the Oakville Public Library ­ Central Branch. Registration helps the Town monitor the number of participants. To make participation easy, gloves and special biodegradable litter bags are available for pick-up (while supplies last) at participating Pizza Pizza locations in Oakville, as well as the registration centres mentioned above. Collected litter can be placed with garbage on the regular collection day. If you are part of a large group and anticipate a large volume of litter collection, you can contact the Town prior to April 18 to make arrangements for pick-up. In the spirit of this spring cleanup, the Town will be starting its own road-side, sidewalk and boulevard sweeping, and litter pickup later this month. "After this long winter, we're all looking forward to warmer weather," Dan Cozzi, Director of Road and Works Operations said. "With the spring thaw, litter is now in plain view. Our crews will be out on in full force to make Oakville beautiful."
