The new color dominates the décor in an $800,000 renovation that began in early April at the 10-year-old hotel. It's the first major one undertaken since it was built in 1998. The original design firm, Jack Hamilton Agencies, is back on the job with this revamp. By the time it is completed, the oldest hotel in the dense overnight accommodation area at QEW and Winston Churchill Boulevard will be the newest looking one, said the OakvilleToronto Country Inn's general manager, Benni Devasia. The local hotel is one of only 16 in Canada. The majority of the chain's 450 hotels are in the U.S. As one of the largest, privately held companies in North America, it is the fastest growing among the Carlson group, which includes Regent, Park Plaza, Radisson Park Inn and CarlsonWagonlit Travels. It's business as usual while the lobby, breakfast lounge, meeting rooms and the first 35 rooms undergo renovation between now and June. The remaining 36 will be completed in November. Each of the 350-sq.-ft (and larger) rooms will have luxuries such as 14-inch mattresses, new bedding, new refrigerators, microwaves, lighting, carpets and wall finishes. A centerpiece floor to ceiling fireplace in the main level breakfast room, as well as new countertops, wallpaper, carpets and flooring will enhance the already popular spot and its expansive food offerings. Country Inn is a comfortable rest over spot for the corporate and family traveller. The local location predominantly attracts the business set, said Devasia. "We have what the corporate traveler wants: great breakfasts, wireless Internet, excellent fitness facilities and plenty of meeting rooms," he added. The comfortable and ample amenities also include brand new elliptical and the 400 series multi gym equipment in the fitness room, and 1,800 square feet of meeting rooms, where new furniture and LCD televisions have already been placed. Sliding doors separate the two 700 square foot rooms, allowing easy expansion for various group sizes.
