The Halton Regional Police Service announced it will be joining the province-wide Safe Prom Campaign, an initiative intended to curb drunk driving during the week of June 23 when graduation and prom celebrations typically take place. RIDE spot checks will be set up throughout Halton and will focus on high traffic areas as well as rural areas. Schools have been notified of the campaign and residents are being asked to call police if they observe crowds of youths congregating in areas where they should not be.
