This award was established in recognition of the first Chief of Staff, and longstanding member of the Department of Family Medicine at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH). It is awarded to a Family Physician at OTMH who has demonstrated The E. Dr. Thomson made elder care his mission and has served in various leadership positions both at OTMH and in the community over the years. Through his intense involvement as the Co-chair of the First Strategic Plan for the Elderly in Halton in 1996, he has seen the development of many aspects of senior care in Halton. He was instrumental in establishing the third Floor Rehab Unit at OTMH. Dr. Thomson is currently the Medical Program Leader of Rehabilitation and Geriatrics at OTMH, the Medical Director of the Villages of Halton Region Long Term Care Homes, and the President of the HHS Professional Staff Association. Auxiliary Completes $1.25 Million Pledge At their Annual General Meeting, held May 28, 2008, the Auxiliary to OTMH completed its five-year pledge of $1.25 million to Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital's Critical Support Campaign with the presentation of the final installment of a cheque for $250,000. One million dollars of this pledge was directed toward the purchase of diagnostic imaging equipment while the balance will support redevelopment of the Maternal Child Program. The couple visited the hospital recently to see Dr. Richard Casey demonstrate how the cystoscope works and learn about how this new technology allows physicians to see three to five more patients a day. Thank you to the Dr. and Mrs. Paradi for making a difference to the health of our community. Hbc Foundation Golf Tournament On hand for the demonstration were (l-r) Dr. Joseph Paradi, Dr. Richard Casey, and Mrs. Monika Paradi. Movies in the Park Fundraiser The second annual Movies in the Park fundraiser supporting the Maternal Child Unit at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital took place on Saturday, June 14th. The event was a huge success, attracting more than 350 people including families, couples, and those passing by. Movie goers enjoyed a Hollywood style evening under the stars complete with popcorn, drinks, Father's Day ready auction items and the feature presentation, Dreamworks Animation's The Bee Movie. With the support of local sponsors, as well as auction items generously donated by the business community, the evening raised over $3,300 for the Maternal Child Unit at OTMH. The Oakville Hospital Foundation would like to thank the event organizers, Kasia and Candice Sarnecki, and everyone who came out to support the event. The Bay Oakville Place recently made a $10,000 donation to Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for the purchase of vital medical equipment for the Hospital. Joining the Bay Oakville Place staff for the cheque presentation were (l to r) Bob Bodo, Bay Oakville Place Store Manager, Mike Bartlett, Director of Community Giving, Oakville Hospital Foundation and Trevor Nash, Community Giving Coordinator, Oakville Hospital Foundation. Oakville Hospital Parking Fees Parking fees collected by the Hospital cover the cost of providing, maintaining and administering the parking facilities. Any revenue collected beyond these expenses will be used to support local Hospital programs and services. These rates are reviewed annually. Effective July 1, 2008 the daily maximum parking rate at OTMH will be $14.00. Day passes, which allow unlimited daily access, will be available for $17.50.
