The squad of eight- and nineyear-olds was led by Henry Luel, who won the C-1 (canoeing singles) and K-1 (kayaking singles) titles. He also teamed with Anthony Weston to win the K-2 race. Luel and Weston were joined by Brendan Glanville and Steven Kemp to win the C-4 and K-4 races. In K-4 mixed, Sierra Sproule helped Luel, Weston and Kemp to gold as well. Burloak also came third in C-4 with a mixed team boat, having a member of the neighbouring Mississauga Canoe Club help out. Coincidentally, Sajko first became interested in chiropractic as a patient. He was hit from behind into the boards 20 years ago while playing midget hockey for the Oakville Rangers, suffering a concussion and soft tissue damage in his neck, and found himself in the office of now-partner Jim Wilson. "I got hurt and tried everything, and it didn't work. He got me better and playing," said Sajko. "I was intrigued by that, learned more and more, and saw how he helped people and would create change." Sajko is now an assistant professor at the CMCC, treats patients in the afternoons at his clinic, does research in his spare time and writes articles for chiropractic magazines and medical journals. He has already been selected to work at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, where he'll either be assigned a specific team to work with or be based out of a satellite clinic. "It's a lot of work, but I'm honoured to be working with these guys," said Sajko. "It definitely wears you down, but that's part of it. I knew that going in."
