Last week, the Province announced it has approved a submission by Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) to renovate the hospital's Maternal Child Unit, which is essentially responsible for the care of new mothers and their babies. "Our government is ensuring that local area women and their families will have access to quality, state-of-the-art maternal and newborn services," said Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn. "This renovated maternal child unit will meet the demand of growing families in the Halton Region as it will alleviate pressures faced by the hospital until the new hospital is built." While the exact size of the grant is not being released until January, when the project is tendered, it is nonetheless being celebrated by Maternal Child Program Leader Cindy MacDonald who pointed out that a lot of babies will arrive between now and when the new hospital is built.
