PST-GST/HST for Small Businesses will take place in the Central Branch Auditorium, 120 Navy St., on Thursday, Feb. 12 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The seminar will be hosted jointly by the Ontario Ministry of Revenue and Canada Revenue Agency and will cover Provincial Sales Tax (PST) and Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax (GST/HST) for business owners. It will teach business owners, or individuals, planning to start a new business, how the two taxes work and how they affect their business. The second tax seminar, Newcomers to Canada Tax Seminar, takes place in the Central Branch Auditorium, 120 Navy St., on Tuesday, March 10 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. If you are new to Canada and to the Canadian tax system, this seminar is a necessity. Get information on important topics such as who needs to file a tax return, what documents are required and who qualifies for benefit programs such as the Canada Child Tax Benefit and the GST Credit. This seminar offers practical information to make sure that you have the resources and the knowhow to manage your tax return.
