G The Canadian Cancer Society is calling all dogs, dog owners and dog lovers to help take a bite out of cancer on Sunday, Sept. 20 at Pilgrim's Park, located at 1551 Pilgrim's Way, for the 2009 Paws for Hope trail walk-a-thon. The fun will get underway at 9:30 a. m. with participant registration, a warmup with Vicki Sutkowski of For the Love of Hope Dog Massage and Stretching and a special ceremony to honour the life-long contribution of canine caregivers. Putting in an appearance will be Clifford the Big Red Dog, as he joins the event for a special meet-and-greet session. At 10 a. m., cancer survivors and their canines will lead participants on a leisurely autumn walk through the Glen Abbey trail system. Following the walk, participants will return to the park for games, entertainment and activities for both dogs and their owners, including contests such as Oakville's largest and smallest dog, best trick, best bark and best look-a-like. Funds raised from the event will continue to help the Canadian Cancer Society.
