The Notre Dame running back, sometimes overshadowed by fellow RB Keith Lagace, scored two touchdowns and ran for more than 100 yards, leading the Fighting Irish to a 40-19 victory over the Holy Trinity Titans at Ron Joyce Stadium yesterday (Thursday). "Both touchdowns were all planned, with a great offensive line and Lagace providing amazing blocks," said Pezzetta. It was the third straight win over the Titans this season for the undefeated Irish, which will defend its Golden Horseshoe Athletic Conference title next week at Ivor Wynne Stadium against a Hamilton Catholic school representative. Pezzetta's TDs were on runs of 32 and 33 yards at the beginning and end of the third quarter to suppress any thought of a Titans comeback. Titans' head coach Joe Moscato looked on the positive side of the loss. "(Division 1) is where we want to be," he said. "This is something we needed to experience. After a loss, it stings. But hopefully, for some of these guys coming up and some coming up to senior next year, this can be motivational to see another team get a trophy, something our team wanted just as bad as they did." Holy Trinity had crept to within 12 points (19-7) of the Irish by halftime, moving the ball almost exclusively through the air. "It was a good call by them," said Notre Dame head coach Chad Wozney. "They COMING THROUGH: Notre Dame's Chris Pezzetta (in white) runs over Holy Trinity Titans defender Ford Simpson on the way to one of his two touchdown runs in yesterday's Halton high school senior football Division 1 final. The powerful Irish running game was too much for the Titans to handle as Notre Dame prevailed, 40-19. NIKKI WESLEY / OAKVILLE BEAVER See Trinity page 38
