Darryl McKenzie, the interim president and CEO, has been asked to stay on permanently in the position. He said Tuesday morning he was thrilled with the appointment. On Dec. 6, 1989, at around 4 p.m., Marc Lepine, 25, entered Montreal's Ecole Polytechnique and committed what is known as the Montreal Massacre. Claiming feminism had ruined his life, Lepine walked through the doors of an engineering classroom and ordered all the men to leave before opening fire on the women with a semi-automatic rifle. Lepine then stalked the halls of the college killing several more women before finally turning the gun on himself.
