Ray was born in St. Thomas, Ontario in 1918, to parents, Clarence and Edith. He and his brother John both joined the RCAF and served overseas in WW II. While in uniform, Ray met his wife and lifelong sweetheart, Joyce Gatecliff, a young teacher from St. Catharines. They married in 1945 and were seldom separated until Joyce's death in 2005. Ray and Joyce collected a great many friends, as they followed Ray's various appointments for his career with CIBC. From St. Thomas to Port Colborne to Byron to Oakville, they were active in church and community life, along with sons, Jim, Bob, Roger and Chris. Ray was happiest when surrounded by his "boys". The boisterous Trull laughter warns everyone when these four brothers are in the vicinity and offers a small glimpse into the good humour and loving support that Ray and Joyce provided as parents. Ray was a member of the Rotar y Club and the Masonic Lodge. He sang in the choir at Maple Grove United Church in Oakville for many years. In retirement, he traveled the world with his beloved Joyce by plane, train and campertrailer, but always they returned to the shores of Kashagawigamog and the fireside comfort of the family cottage. Ray is fondly remembered by the families of his sons: Jim, Sandy, Justin, Avryl, Braiden, Ciaran, Jamie, Sarah, Jenny, Shawn a n d R y l e e ; B o b , J e n n i f e r, C h a s e , C h r i s t a , D a r r e n a n d B r e n t ; R o g e r, J a n e t , M e r r o n , J o n , G r a h a m a n d D i a n a ; Chris, Cathy, and Dylan.
