www.oakvillebeaver.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, March 26, 2010 · 24 Boat show sails into Town Hall The Town of Oakville is inviting people to its free annual Boating Expo this Saturday where there will be exhibits for people to learn about boating, marinas and harbours. The Expo takes place at the Oakville Town Hall, located at 1225 Trafalgar Rd. It will run from 1 to 5 p.m. Aside from the exhibits there will also be a free performance by local musicians Fiddlestix. "We are very excited to have a number of excellent exhibits lined up this year," said Heather Turenne, Oakville manager of harbours and cemeteries. "There is something for everyone to enjoy, from the novice boater to the most experienced." All of the town's boating clubs will also be represented at the event. There will be giveaways throughout the event and refreshments will be available. Oakville has two scenic harbours. One is the Oakville Harbour in the town's downtown area at the 16-Mile Creek and Bronte Harbour at the mouth of the 12-Mile Creek. This year's theme is Clean, Green Eco-Marine. There will be a number of speakers throughout the afternoon and exhibits by local area boating suppliers. Admission is free. Kids choir fundraiser It will be a night of dinner, music and dancing with a touch of elegance to support local youths who love to sing. The Oakville Children's Choir's annual fundraiser Jewels and Blue Jeans is tonight (Friday) at Le Dome Banquet Hall. The OCC's Senior Choir will entertain along with The George Rose Big Band.
