Man asks for Coco's owners to call him By Domini Kurek OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF An Oakville man, who frequently walks on the Inner Valley Trail of the Sixteen Mile Creek, is hoping to be contacted by the owners of a dog named Coco, which bit him Sunday, March 28. He wants the owners to contact him so he can avoid going through rabies treatments. Mark Tippey was walking on the trail just north of Upper Middle Rd., west of Neyagawa at around 10:15 a.m. The small dog, which was not on a leash, ran up to him, passed him then turned around and nipped him on the backside. The owners, who apologized to Tippey, pulled the dog from the man calling it Coco. He did not ask for the owners' names, but when he got home he realized the bite broke the skin. After speaking with health officials, Tippey was advised to go through rabies treatment, which includes five shots over a period of one month. However, if the dog can be identified and it is discovered the dog doesn't have rabies, he will not have to go through the treatment. Rabies is a fatal disease. "I would prefer not to go through treatment," he said. "On the other hand, I would rather be known as that guy who gets called stupid because he didn't ask for the names of the people whose dog bit him versus, `What were the chances that that guy died of rabies'." Tippey describes the dog as small and white with brown spots, likely a Jack Russell terrier, similar to the dog Eddie on the TV show Frasier.
