Blackburn won in the best in-depth feature award category for community newspapers. Former Oakville Beaver reporter Tina Depko, now working with the Burlington Post, also won a Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario award for her story on the first H1N1 vaccination clinic in Halton Region. Depko won the best news category. Winners were chosen from 44 entries and winning submissions represent large and small media outlets. The Oakville Beaver was the only media outlet to win two awards. The awards will be presented during the President's Banquet at RNAO's annual general meeting in Toronto tonight (April 16). "As an organization that speaks out for health, health care and the nursing profession, we are proud to confer these awards, recognizing excellence in health reporting," says RNAO President Wendy Fucile.
