Living Earth Day Every Day will be held in the South Atrium of Town Hall from 6-9 p.m. "I invite everyone to come take advantage of the information and exhibitors that will be gathered together at Town Hall for this fun, free event," said Mayor Rob Burton. "Council encourages all residents to learn as much as they can about how to care for our environment -- something the Town is striving to do in our day-to-day operations." The event will include a workshop on cooking local food with Nadine Hughes of The Cook's Companion. There will be hands-on demonstrations of energy-efficient technology and green gardening. There will also be displays and information from: Earth Day Canada; Oakville Hydro; Union Gas; Oakvillegreen; the Oakville Horticultural Society; Halton Enablers of Renewable Energy; Oakville Sustainable Food Partnership; Oakville Public Library and various Town departments. Participants will have an opportunity to win a rain barrel, solar charger, green gardening gift basket or $200 off a new bicycle. They can also take advantage of giveaways of green products including Energy Saving Kits from Union Gas worth $35. Earth Day Canada staff will be putting on a workshop at 5:30 p.m. for high school students and educators on how to use their online EcoAction Calculator and EcoAction Teams program.
