Here, Comic Vision co-founder Ann Morrison welcomes the audience; the reaction of Steve Carter and Adine Fabiani prove the night offered up hilarity to enjoy as Comic Vision co-founder Meg Soper led off the night with her very funny stand-up act. Other featured performers included Irwin Barker (currently working on the award-winning Rick Mercer Report) while stand-up comic veteran Lawrence Morgenstern emceed. Presented by The Creature Production Company in association with BBC Worldwide THE BIGGEST ACT HAMILTON HAS EVER SEEN! Through a Young Lens The photographs of a pair of local students are part of a national tour along with the works of their peers with a stop in Oakville later this month. The Cancer Connections: Through a Young Lens Exhibition is taking place at Oakville Place May 25 to June 7. It features the photography work of students aged 12 to 18 on Ontario and Canadian independent schools. It is a partnership between PhotoSensitive and Oakville's St. Mildred's-Lighbourn School (SMLS) with the support of Greenwood College School and Matthews Hall Independent School. The two locals in the event are SMLS students: Maddie Goodall, Grade 12, and Alana Ratcliffe-Lake, Grade 11. Each image in the exhibit offers a unique perspective into a disease that affects two in five Canadians. The main goal of this exhibition -- a mini version of the nationally touring Cancer Connections exhibition -- is to raise awareness about cancer and the impact it has on the lives of everyday Canadians. An opening ceremony will take place at the mall on Tuesday, May 25 at 7 p.m. Former Oakville mayor Ann Mulvale, a cancer survivor, will speak at the ceremony. The national tour began on April 20 and will continue throughout the summer. For more information, visit www.photosensitive.com/cc.
