Email condolences may be made through www.koprivataylor.com I didn't know that morning that God was going to call your name In life I loved you dearly; in death I do the same It broke my heart to lose you; but you did not go alone For part of me went with you, the day God call you home For no one knows the heartache that lies beyond my smile No one knows how many times I have broken down and cried You left me such beautiful memories; your love is still my guide And though I cannot see you, you are always at my side Our family chain is broken and nothing will ever be the same But as God calls us one by one our chain will link again Love Always, Charlie Benjamin James Belford born on Thursday June 3, 2010. Hartley Tosh - June 23, 2010 LOVE, Cathy (John) & David GRANT, Roy - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Roy Kenneth Grant. He passed away peacefully at home in his 89th year, accompanied by his son and daughter in song and champagne. Predeceased by his wife, Kathr yn Joyce Austin Smith Grant on Februar y 22, 2010. Adored father of John and Vanessa. A second father to their spouses, Lynda and Philip. Beloved grandfather of Michael (Diane), Tara and Jamie. Great-grandfather of Brayden, Caitlin and Bailey. Dad grew up in northern Ontario born on Baker Street in Cobalt on September 21, 1921 to Charles Roy Grant and Dad's loving mother, Elizabeth May Sullivan Grant. Dad's family lived i n E l k L a k e , M a t a c h e w a n a n d H a i l e y b u r y. D a d t o l d g r e a t s t o r i e s o f t h e personalities of the near North, which included tales of the loggers and miners who settled the land. Dad himself was a miner in Cobalt and Bancroft. Although he never spoke much about the war, he served proudly during World War II in Europe as a tank gunner-operator with the 4th (Canadian) Armoured Division (South Alberta Regiment). After the war, Dad was a stationary engineer with the City of Niagara Falls. Construction was Dad's forte: he was a remarkable builder and craftsman. He built our family homes in North Bay and Oakville and was also involved in his children's construction projects, building a model working mine for John's Grade 7 geography class. Dad got an "A+". Dad believed in family first and helping others without making a big fuss about it. Although he accomplished much in his professional life, most of all, Dad was a loving, caring father. He took pride in the accomplishments of his children: "Doctor Captain" John and his opera singing lawyer daughter, Vanessa. He was loved and beloved by those who knew him, although he certainly had "views" on many things, which he shared with anyone who would listen (or not). We would like to thank Shelley, Dr. Benjamin and the staff at Veterans Affairs and CCAC for their care of our father during his illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Threshold School of Building (www.thresholdschool.ca), of which John is the Executive Director or Child Development Institute (www.childdevelop.ca), of which Vanessa is a board member. In accordance with Dad's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Cremation has taken place and we will be scattering Dad's ashes at his favourite lake. We all love you, Dad. The squirrels and the birds will miss you. Loving son of Jack and Diane Hayden and dear brother to Jim. He will be sadly missed by all his aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. Will was born on December 3, 1984, in Oakville, Ontario, and attended Brantwood Public School and Oakville Trafalgar High School. He successfully completed a Business Program at Capilano University in Vancouver, B.C., and enjoyed a term in Finland as an exchange student. After his term in Finland, Will continued to travel to Russia, England, and throughout Europe before meeting up with us in Spain to see the America's Cup. Will's friends were always finding reasons to visit him in Vancouver to ski W h i s t l e r, G r o s s M o u n t a i n , C y p r e s s a n d K i c k i n g H o r s e . L a s t s u m m e r W i l l returned to Vancouver and from there drove down to Southern California where he made a lot of new friends and learned to surf. Last December he followed some friends to Brisbane, Australia, where he found work and loved life. He saved enough money to buy an old camper to travel to Melbourne traveling the Great Ocean Road and back to Sydney. He spent his last days in the peaceful and beautiful Blue Mountains. Will always lived life to the fullest, skiing double black diamond runs, learning to sur f in California, hang gliding off Gross Mountain and diving off the Great Barrier Reef. He was wise beyond his years and lived a full life. We take comfort in the fact his short life has touched so many. He was much loved and will be forever missed. A private family service will be held at Ward Funeral Home, "Oakville Chapel" (905-844-3221). Our thanks to all our family and friends for their support and kindness during this difficult time. A Book of Memories may be signed at www.wardfuneralhome.com - we look forward to many pictures, happy stories and memories about Will.
