LANDRY, Herbert Patrick "Herb" WWII Vet. Peacefully at Northridge Long Term Care (Oakville) on October 24, 2011 at the age of 88 with his family by his side. Herb is survived by his wife Beryl (nee Byard). They married on January 31, 1945 and shared 66 years of devoted marriage filled with laughter and music. Herb was a veteran who served all six years of WWII. He enlisted with the Pictou Highlanders and was transferred to the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. He served in DDay and the Normandy Invasion and took great pride in his military service to his country. Herb is predeceased by his daughter Linda, his brother John and his sisters Ann and Lillian. Herb will be deeply missed by his brother Bill and sisters Evelyn and Adeline. Herb was the proud father of Bob (Teri), John (Julie), Carol (Paul), David (Debi), Todd (Wendy) and Tim (Hiroko). He loved spending time with his many grandchildren - Danielle, Justin, Dan, Trevor, Tiffany, Tristan, Jennifer, Dwayne, Jodi, Holly, Sommer, Chad, B e l i n d a , R o b b i e , N i c o l e , J a s o n , Ta k a n d Yu k i - a n d h i s 1 4 g r e a t grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered by his cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. SANDERSON, Alfreda May, née Wade (December 25, 1924 - October 20, 2011) Of Roseglen Village in Port Hope, died on Thursday, October 20, at the Northumberland Hills Hospital after a brief illness. A war bride, Alfreda came to Canada in 1944 from the United Kingdom. She overcame many hardships as she established her new life in a strange country. Predeased by her husband Ronald Sanderson (1999), she was a woman of strong character and conviction. She was the beloved mother of Maureen (Bill Bowman), Laura (Dr. Robert Saunders) and Dr. Robert Sanderson (Jane Harrison). "Grandma" will be missed greatly by her grandchildren, Nancy, Matthew, Christena, Melanie and Amy, their spouses, and her great grandchildren, Nicolas, Adam, Owen, Myles, Valerie, Josephine and Duncan as well as many nieces and nephews Alfreda is survived by her sister Helen McNeal of West Kelowna, British Columbia and Fred Scott of Burlington, Ontario. The family greatly appreciates the care and attention provided by all those looking after her during her stay at the hospital. The family will gather for a service at the Ross Funeral C h a p e l a t 1 1 A M o n M o n d a y, November 7. Born March 29, 1918, in Loggieville, New Brunswick, Edna graduated from St. Michael's Academy Chatham and Provincial Normal School, Fredericton, New Brunswick. In 1937, Edna began her career teaching grades 1 to 8 in the one room schoolhouse on Middle Island and described in published reference. (Daley C. Springer A.
