Vol. 50 No. 36 "Using Communication To Build Better Communities" QEP centre opens on Saturday By Dominik Kurek OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF It is finally here -- Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre is opening and the Town of Oakville is celebrating with a full day of free activities on Saturday, March 24. The festivities will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and there will be an opening ceremony at noon, held in the rehearsal hall, BO22 of the centre located on Yolanda Drive. QEP, a former public high school, is a one-of-akind building and features spaces for a wide range of groups. People will also have to time to explore the new facility and meet members of the various arts and cultural groups that call the new centre home. QEP has more than 144,000 square feet of activity space, including spaces for artists, musicians, performers and cultural and heritage groups. "The opening of QEPCCC represents a great milestone for our town," said Mayor Rob Burton, in a news release. "QEPCCC is symbolic of our unanimous vision as Council for Oakville to be the most livable town in Canada. In the short-term, these young people are rehearsing with Zacada Circus' elite performance troupe, based out of Stoney Creek, which presents its fourth annual show next month.
