Cop cracks the case -- for her mom By Dominik Kurek OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF A routine run to the local pharmacy turned unusual for an Oakville senior whose CUV was stolen in the store's parking lot May 24 -- but only until Irene Paul's daughter, a retired Halton police sergeant, hit the streets. Lina Crawford, who turned to interior design work upon retiring from policing nearly a year ago, happened to spot her mom's stolen vehicle being driven by someone other than her mother. That's when her 31 years of policing instincts kicked in. The former officer followed in pursuit of the stolen car and called 9-1-1. Not long after, a takedown occurred and it ended with Crawford, 51, driving her mom's Hyundai Santa Fe back to her parents' home. The CUV had been stolen that morning. Ward 2 Council also called for the federal government to review its current policy of regulating invasive species under the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and develop a distinct Urban Forestry Agency under which invasive species and their treatment would be regulated.
