The study has been conducted in compliance with Schedule C of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, amended 2007 & 2011), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. Taking into consideration the comments that were received from the Town of Oakville, regulatory agencies and the public, Halton Region is recommending a preferred design which includes the widening of Dundas Street to a 6-lane urban cross section including the provision of curb lane High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV)/transit operations in the interim with the long-term transition to Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) by 2031. This study provides an opportunity to develop multi-modal transportation improvements along Dundas Street which includes enhancement as an attractive corridor for pedestrians and cyclists, integrating new and existing land uses with heritage and natural features. Process The Environmental Study Report (ESR) has been prepared to document the planning, public consultation and decision making process undertaken for this study. By this Notice, the ESR is being placed on the public record for a 45-day review period in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Class EA. Subject to comments received as a result of this Notice and the receipt of necessary approvals, Halton Region intends to proceed with the detail design and widening of Dundas Street as documented in the ESR.
