Find out if schools are open Now that winter is here, the Halton District School Board is reminding parents there are a number of ways to find out if schools are open or if buses are running. Announcements are available on radio, television, the board's website and through the Home Notification System. The board said its primary method of communicating inclement weather announcements is through radio and television stations. The board's Home Notification System, an automated system that telephones or e-mails parents, supplements the traditional notification methods. The system takes close to one hour to call or e-mail approximately 35,000 Halton parents.
