The Burloak Canoe Club will officially launch its on-water season Saturday, April 6 with the first of two public open houses and registration sessions. "The start of our paddling season is met with excitement year in and year out," said Adam Oldershaw, Burloak's head coach. OAK sending 20 swimmers to world trials Oakville Aquatic Club's (OAK) top national-level swimmers are in Victoria, B.C. this week to compete in the world championship trials. Representing OAK at the meet are Annika Grewal, Mackenzie Hamill, Jackie Keire, Bryce Kwiecien-Delaney, Lauren Lalumiere, Evan White, David Whiteside, Mitchell Gour, Connor Wilkins, Gamal Assaad, Omar Arafa, Duncan Partridge, Sharalynn Missiuna, Marni Oldershaw, Annie Harrison, Mack Darwill represent Canada at the FINA World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona this summer. The camp gave the OMHA coaching staff, which includes Oakville's Duncan Harvey, an opportunity to see the top players from around the province before selecting two teams that will compete in the Gold Cup. The eight-team tournament to be held in Kitchener May 9-12, features teams from Ontario's six minor hockey organizations. Among the players taking part were eight members of the Oakville Rangers' OHL Cup championship team -- defencemen Andrew Burns and Matt Spencer and forwards Adam Craievich, Brett McKenzie, Jess Barwell, Sean Kohler and Matt Luff. Defenceman Kyle Capobianco, a Mississauga native, also took part. Other Oakville players at the camp were goalies Benjamin Blacker and Scott Smith and forward Josh Kosack. The Toronto Aeros scored with 20 seconds left in regulation and got the winner 21 seconds into the second overtime period. DaSilva had a 5-4 record with two shutouts and a 2.21 goals against average in the playoffs. Capizzano, the Chiefs' captain, had three goals and three assists in 12 playoff games.
