So many of us know this firsthand, and that is why the Canadian Cancer Society asks you to join the fight by wearing a daffodil pin on April 27. "Too often, those faced with cancer feel isolated," says Lisa Dale, fundraising coordinator of the Canadian Cancer Society. "Daffodil Day on April 27 is a bright reminder to everyone in Halton living with cancer that they are not alone. There is comfort and strength in numbers. The more people we can bring together, the stronger we'll be in the fight against cancer." The Canadian Cancer Society is marking its 75th anniversary in 2013. It is an occasion to celebrate the Society's successes over 75 years while recognizing the work that still needs to be done in our fight for life. It is only with the support of donors and volunteers that the Society will continue to save lives and support people living with cancer right now. Throughout April, volunteers in Halton and across Ontario have been working together to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. The Halton community office is $15,000 away from its 2013 goal of raising $139,000 during Daffodil Month. SEAC looks for winners The Halton District School Board's Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) is looking for nominations for its upcoming awards program. Teachers, parents, educational assistants and volunteers who contribute understanding compassion and strength in the area of special education are eligible for the Support for Special Education Students Award. The Outstanding Achievement Award, on the other hand, will recognize a student with an exceptionality who has demonstrated achievement, through hard work and dedication, to reach his or her potential and beyond.
