Already 90 per cent sold out, this year's event will be held on Monday, Aug. 12, at Carlisle Golf Club, which will be turned into an 18-hole par-three course for the tournament. When approached with the idea of doing a charity golf tournament, organizer Brian Hall knew he wanted to do something different. And he's accomplished that with three hole-in-one winners during the first six years of the tournament. To date, Keys & Tees has also raised $105,000 for the caring and compassionate work of Drummond House, a ministry dedicated to the improvement of women, with or without children, in need. Hall was originally approached by the organization with an idea to do a fundraiser and he was happy to help, deciding to also raise funds for the Coping Centre, an organization offering help and encouragement to people in grief; an emotion Hall and his family know all too well after losing their son to leukemia 17 years ago. The tournament awards at least 18 winners each year, with a closest-to-the-pin competition on each hole. And in addition to all of the chances to win a car, there are five specialty holes set up for added friendly and fun competition: longest drive on a par-three, land on the green for a chance to win a new set of clubs and closest to the pin overall wins a barbecue. The team with the best score will win the Mark Hall Memorial Trophy, named in Hall's son's honour. In addition, there will be food sampling and giveaways that take place on many of the tournament's holes. Hole-in-one winners must purchase or lease a vehicle from the dealer sponsoring the hole in which they won, including Discovery Ford Sales, Burlington Hyundai and The Leggat Auto Group. Winners will receive $25,000 from insurance provided through Utter-Morris Insurance.
