An Oakville amateur historian is calling on residents to provide information on what happened to 39 local soldiers who appear in a 1940 photograph. John Picard said he came into possession of the photo when a friend who owned an antique store on Kerr Street moved out of the area. "He had a collection of Oakville memorabilia and I bought his collection," said Picard. Information accompanying the photo said the men were part of the 1st Division of the Canadian Active Service Force and the first group of Lorne Scots to go overseas. "This one I thought would be an interesting one to show and maybe get the community in- volved and telling some of the stories about their grandfathers or whoever these guys were," said Picard. "These are real people. Nobody asked them to do this, they all volunteered and that is something we need to remember...." The names listed in the accompanying information include: W. Shand, W.
