T his year, the Friends of the Oakville Public Library (FOPL) will host their Spring Book Sale from April 10-13 in the Central Branch Auditorium (members only sale held April 9). As always, thousands of gently-used books spanning all genres will be available for purchase. Books are $1.50 per pound and half price on Sunday. These semiannual sales have generated more than $500,000, which has been used to support library services, such as the Battle of the Books, teen writing workshops, eBook reader purchases and more. FOPL book sale opens April 10 FOPL-supported projects Some of the projects supported by FOPL this year include TD Summer Reading Club, adult and teen book clubs as well as the Write2Xpress Teen Writing Contest. Replenishing titles in the library's satellite Teen Book Depots is another priority. In total, FOPL has designated nearly $30,000 in funding for these projects. Thanks to volunteers Fittingly, the FOPL Spring Book Sale falls during National Volunteer Week (April 6-12). In addition to the FOPL 's hard work and benevolence, there are many volunteers who donate their time to an assortment of library projects and programs.
