Khalid (Kal) Ghory, running in the Halton riding, said he brings business acumen into helping residents to find satisfactory outcomes for all. "If elected, I will conduct town hall meetings to listen to the concerns of the residents of Halton so that they can be fully represented in the legislature," said Ghory, who owns and operates The UPS Store in Burlington. Kal Ghory The Oakville resident said he has empathy for the average person -- "the unheard majority in Ontario," who he feels is left out due to the political climate, which is essentially controlled by three parties. It's a shared view amongst the Libertarian Party, led by Allen Small, who's a candidate in Markham-Unionville. Ghory said he believes there are fundamental issues that need to be addressed by elected officials -- job creation, cheaper energy, simplified budget, smarter public education and an efficient health care system. A supporter of public transportation, Ghory would like to see the electrification of the Lakeshore GO line, increased frequency of GO trains and extra shuttles at peak times. In answer to easing gridlock on our congested roads and highways, Ghory supports synchronized traffic lights and working with Metrolinx and other governing bodies to reduce times for the movement of people and goods. He also supports creating jobs through investment in community infrastructure including schools, hospitals, highways, waste management and affordable housing. "I feel that it would be refreshing to have someone who will care for the average Halton resident and their needs to replace the mind-numbing mantra of the same old three main parties," he said.
