Winning their first events Friday were Abbey Park's Evelyne Guay (senior girls' 800m) and Austin Irvine (junior boys' 200m), Garth Webb's Jonathan Reid (junior boys' discuss), Blakelock's Cameron Madruga (junior boys' shot put) and King's Christian's Levi Schenk (junior boys' triple jump). Loyola (open girls' 4x400m) and Iroquois Ridge (senior girls' 4x100m) added relay titles. Coverage of GHAC Day 1 winners appeared in Friday's edition of the Oakville Beaver. The Gaels scored four straight to take charge after building an early 3-2 lead, and scored five power-play goals in a game that saw the Buzz rack up 37 minutes in penalties. Follows had two goals and Renaud had a goal and three assists. Also scoring were O'Donnell, Ben Heidecker, Corbett and McQueen. Oakville was in Mississauga last night (Wednesday) to face the Tomahawks before returning home for a rematch with the Green Gaels tomorrow (Friday) at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre.
