The successful foul shot ended up standing up as the difference as St. Dominic's held on to win the Halton Roman Catholic champi onship 28-27 over Holy Rosary of Burlington. It capped off a great year for the Oakville school, posting an overall record of 24-1. Ironically, their only loss came in the Oakville final, losing to St. Luke's, a team team they had beaten twice earlier. However, St. Dominic's rebounded to win the Halton final, including a semifinal win over St. Mark's of Burlington. At this age level, the majority of the play ers haven't been involved in many champi onship games, if any, so it's often a learning process. And both teams seemed tight to start the game, and, of course, that usually shows up first and foremost on offence. But they made up for their tentative start with an exciting overtime ending.
