Crichton is the recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award, while McEvoy has been named winner of the Student Leadership Excellence Award. Each year winners are selected from nominations submitted by 175 colleges across Canada. "This is a remarkable achievement for Sheridan, and the entire community is extremely proud of Dan and Ben. Both truly deserve this recognition," said Sheridan president and CEO Robert Turner, himself a recipient of the ACCC Leadership Excellence Award for 2000. The ACCC Awards Program recognizes and pro motes excellence within the Canadian college system by showcasing the extraordi nary contribution of individ uals to their college commu nities. Crichton and McEvoy will be presented with their awards at the ACCC 2002 Conference in St. John's, Newfoundland on May 27. Crichton was nominated by Sheridan for his excep tional commitment as a teacher and as head of Sheridan's Glass Studio, a position he has held for the past 23 years. r-- Under his leadership, the program has earned an inter national reputation for excel lence, and is today one of the largest academic glass pro grams in North America. Crichton is a renowned glass artist, with works in many private and corporate collections and on perma nent display at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. McEvoy is a third-year student in Sheridan's Classical Animation pro gram and a member of the board of governors who has been actively involved in student and college life throughout his four years at Sheridan.
