"I think it was a wake-up and we're still trying to stay awake." He said 9/11 is now as much about reflection as it is about supporting each other. "It's become a national day of service and we're getting stronger by remembering we're all in this together as a country," he said. "We take care of each other and do something nice for each other, like the pay-itforward concept." Oakville MP Terence Young also encouraged Canadians to take up Prime Minister Stephen Harper's "call to action" to participate in charitable activities and community service. "Today, we thank all volunteers who give of their time, put their skills to work, demonstrate acts of kindness and compassion, and willingly make sacrifices to better the lives of others," Young said.
