Oakville's first mayor, George K. Chisholm (1857), will be "on hand" along with the Trails Brass quintet to greet visitors to the opening of the Market Square. The site plan -- which includes a cobblestone walkway, a garden pergola structure, a sign pier for Market Square and planting beds that connect existing trees -- was designed by Christopher Campbell, Landscape Architect. Following the opening ceremonies, spectators will be invited to walk the Old Oakville Loop of the Sixteen Mile Creek Heritage Trail. The loop has been designed to provide a link to the Town's beginning. It will follow Navy Street south of Lakeshore Road to Lakeside Park, along Front Street to Thomas, and north on Thomas Street to Sixteen Mile Creek Lookout at Randall Street.
