As this winter nears, how will you keep busy? The number of ways to keep busy and, more importantly, warm, seem endless this year. The most popular events hosted by Oakville include the Oakville Santa Claus Parade and annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. There are tree-lighting ceremonies slated for the evening of Nov. 14 in the downtown Towne Square and in Heritage Square in Kerr Village. Bronte Village will host its on Saturday, Nov. 22. Hoping for something more personal to you? Take up a hobby and join a local club. It could be a sport, an art, or even a skill you already have. There are many groups and clubs in town to sat- isfy just about any type of interest. Or, feel free to take the opportunity to give up some of your valuable time and lend a hand by signing up to volunteer at a local food bank or support one of the 140 kilometres of trails we have throughout town. If you care to enjoy the outdoors, take in some of the 2,400 acres of park space Oakville has to offer. This town is also known for hosting more than 260 music, drama, and other performances throughout the year. In keeping with the holiday season, don't forget to catch the elaborate The Nutcracker, a ballet production staged annually at the Centre for Performing Arts in downtown Oakville.
