It being their toughest tournament of the year, they had discussed the possi bility going into the tourney, conceded coach Peter Szpakowski. And what they decided they would do is to simply regroup and continue on towards their ultimate goal -- which is lo win their competitive Halton championship and proceed on to the O FS A A provincial champi onship for the first time. Their strategy seemed to have worked. They did lose, in the semifinals of the A-division championship, to a very strong Holy Names team from Windsor (25-1 6, 25-19). Holy Names, for the second year in a row. then went on to lose the champi onship game to St. Theresa's from Midland (25-21. 25-22). Aquinas rebounded to win the bronze medal match over London St. Thomas Aquinas (25-22, 26-24). Their overall season record is now 39-1 (75-8 in sets). The quarterfinal featured an allOakville showdown with Aquinas win ning 2-0 over a strong Loyola side which had finished second in their pool. The two Oakville teams have earned a bye in their opening round league playoffs today with Aquinas finishing first at 10-0 and Loyola finishing in a three-way tie for second place at 8-2 (but earning second on the tiebreaker). The Aquinas coaches expressed pride in the way their team has improved over the last three years, not ing that two years ago, they finished third in D-division and last year second in the B-Division.
