The Oakville Beaver, Friday March 12, 2004 - 31 Sheridan ceramics graduates present Proof of Flame art show Proof o f Flame, an exhibition by the 2004 ceramics graduates of the Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning is now at the Laidlaw Hall of the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga. Thirteen diverse ceramic artists will showcase the end results of three years of intense studio work. The students have arranged an exhibition of their final body of work in both functional and non-functional ceramics. Artists include Eve Behar, Robin Boles, Jenny Clark, Carolyn Filter, Justin Ho, Younah Kim, Hannun Tracey Lyn, Carole Mason, Carol Morrow, Lindsay Montgomery, Dawn Petticrew, Dawn Stafrace, and Laura St. Denis. This exhibition will highlight the 13 individual approaches to one material that has been the common thread between them working, learning, and now each entering into the world of stu dio ceramics. The ceramics program encourages individuals to become creative, inde pendent craftspeople concerned with the making of expressive fine ceramics objects. Specific projects throughout the three-year program are designed to promote creative problem solving and progressively increase the students' skill level. The next exhibition scheduled in Laidlaw Hall will be by the Sheridan College Institute's Textiles Graduating Class, from April 29-May 20. Admission is free. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 10-4 p.m. and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. Visit www.livingartscentre.ca for informa tion on upcoming exhibitions. Randy Bachman and Rik Emmett join guitar workshop lineup Guitar Workshop Plus...Bass, Drums and Keyboards is returning for its seventh year in Oakville, adding an extra session this summer. The first session of the intensive music educa tion camp for all ages will run July 18-23, and the second session will run July 25-30. Both sessions will be held at Appleby College. Special guests this summer will include Canadian legends Randy Bachman (Guess Who, BTO) and Rik Emmett (Triumph and solo artist). They will be joined by one of today's most prolific and progressive jazz guitarists John Abercrombie and acoustic guitar sensation Peppino D'Agostino. The program is designed for aspiring musi cians and hobbyists of all ages. Courses are offered for all levels, ages and styles, including blues, jazz, rock, acoustic and classical. The intensive bass, drum and keyboard cours es cover many styles and afford students with many performance opportunities. Resident and non-resident tuitions are avail able and registration has begun for the 2004 ses sions.
