A locked medication cabinet was also broken into and the perpetrator(s) made off with an unknown quantity of Vetalar and Phenobarbital narcotics. Halton police said they "are concerned due to the nature and quantity of two of the drugs stolen and consider their potential availability on the street to be a safety concern." According to police, Vetalar is a Ketaminebased sedative that has been used as a date rape drug. When converted into powder form it can also become a stimulant. Phenobarbital is used to treat seizures in both animals and humans. It can produce "serious side effects" if not taken properly, or in the correct dosage. "We encourage the public to be vigilant and for parents to be aware of these narcotics," police said in a news release. "When narcotics fall into the wrong hands and are misused, they can be extremely dangerous, even deadly. Please be cautious about what you are ingesting and for what reasons."
