The alleged shoplifting incident occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. when security officers at the store notified police about a theft in progress involving five male suspects. Police said security believed the men had also been involved in an alleged theft earlier around 6:45 p.m. at the Hudson's Bay Oakville Place location. As police arrived on the scene Wednesday night, five men, carrying merchandise, were leaving the store through various doors. One of the officers located two of the suspects and attempted to make an arrest. Police said the officer was punched and two males fled on foot after dropping some of the allegedly stolen merchandise. The officer was not seriously injured. A search of the area ensued that included the police dog and a suspect was arrested a short distance from the mall. Police said they received information shortly afterwards that two of the suspects had flagged a taxi, which was then stopped by officers in the area of Laurentian Drive and Harvester Road. The suspects fled the cab, but one was quickly arrested by the officers. Police said almost $1,000 in merchandise was recovered in the taxi. "It is believed the remaining suspects fled in a vehicle which was seen leaving the mall at an extremely high rate of speed," police said. The suspects at-large are described as black males in their mid-twenties. Police are continuing to investigate with hopes of identifying the men. Nathan Holder, 22, of Oakville faces two counts of theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000. Courtney Jeshuron, 23, of Mississauga, faces a charge of theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and breach of recognizance.
