LOVE COMING OUR STUDENTS OPEN HOUSE Saturday, January 24, 2015 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Oakville Montessori Primary Campus Rotherglen's Oakville Montessori Primary Campus, fondly referred to as the "Yellow School," provides an unparalleled Montessori environment for students in their formative years, from Casa (age 3) to Grade 1. Our students love to come to school! Bright and spacious classrooms and highly qualified Montessori teachers provide a nurturing environment and the learning tools students require to develop intellectually, physically and socially. Oakville Elementary Campus Rotherglen is what school should be - a safe, positive environment where students are excited to learn and where each child is guided to reach his/her full potential. Our Oakville Elementary Campus offers an exceptional Montessori program in Grades 1-3 and transitions to an enriched traditional program in Grades 4-8. Our programs inspire and promote intellectual curiosity and individual growth through academics, arts, athletics, community service, and character education. Rotherglen is committed to educational technology Rotherglen School recognizes 21st century learners need an opportunity to explore and utilize tools required to be successful digital citizens. Students at Rotherglen use a variety of learning technologies to promote student success and student learning. This includes a 1:1 iPad program for students in Grades 5-8, iPads in every homeroom in the Lower Grades and a mobile laptop cart for class use. Each classroom is equipped with a SMART Board and these serve to enhance and enrich instruction and learning. "It is our responsibility to prepare our students to be future leaders and global citizens, and this requires a strong commitment to remaining current with technological advancements in education," explains Patrick Lanigan, Assistant Head of School. To support learning technologies, Rotherglen has recently expanded upon its IT department. The IT department now includes a Help Desk, Systems Administrator and ICT Educational Specialist. Together, the IT team researches and recommends new teaching platforms, provides PD to staff, supports teaching in the classroom, and is responsible for developing an educational technology plan for the school. This team of talented individuals is essential to the utilization of hardware and web 2.0 tools. This year, Rotherglen has introduced a Student eCoaches program. The eCoaches meet twice weekly with our ICT Educational Specialist and are becoming trained experts on the learning technologies available at the school. The primary goal of this team is to assist staff and students in troubleshooting a number of common issues. When not assisting staff and students, these young technologists are learning the basics of code. The hard work of students, paired with the newly expanded IT Department and commitment to technology, is what makes IT@Rotherglen so successful.
