Halton police to do training exercise at new hospital site The new Oakville hospital isn't open yet but there will be a large police presence there one night next week. The Halton Regional Police Emergency Services Unit regularly conducts scenariobased training exercises at various locations throughout the region. One of those is taking place Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 5-11 p.m., at the new Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital at 3001 Hospital Gate, on the north side of Dundas Street at Third Line. Officers and civilians involved The training exercise will include officers and civilians from the Halton Regional Police Tactical Rescue Team (TRU), Canine unit, Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU), Mobile Command Centre, Crisis Negotiators, Search Incident Response Team (SIRT), EMS Tactical Medics and the Hamilton Emergency Response Unit. "Training in realistic environments is critical to ensuring operational readiness for specialty units within the police service. It is an opportunity to establish and practice leadingedge emergency preparedness measures. This is one of the goals of the police service and it greatly contributes to improving community safety," stated a Halton police press release. "There is no safety concern to anyone in the area and no danger present to any persons or property," added police.
