Wyldewood golf superintendent Mike Creed, assistant golf superintendent Sean McGuire and assistant golf professional Thomas Butcher each received an EMP Good Samaritan Award from Action Emergency Response Training Inc. owner/director Perry Szeminski, who has conducted annual First Aid/CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automated External Difibrillator) training at Wyldewood for the past 10 years. On July 15, Creed heard cries for help from a nearby green and discovered a Oakville senior, who was golfing with his wife and friends, lying flat on the ground and not breathing. A club member had already called 911 so Creed called out to his colleagues, Butcher and McGuire. McGuire began CPR, Butcher connected to 911 and Creed administered a few shocks from the defibrillator, at which point paramedics arrived to transport the golfer to hospital. It was later determined that the golfer had suffered a cardiac arrest. He has since made a full recovery , thanks to the collective efforts of many involved, but most significantly due to the initial response by Creed, Butcher and McGuire, according to an Action representative.
