He returned to Victoria Hospital, London, in 1960, where he was a member of the Active Teaching Staff and Deputy Chief of Medicine from 1978 to 1984. A popular clinician and lecturer, John thoroughly enjoyed his role as teaching medical students, and was delighted to receive, in 1995, the award of Professor Emeritus of Medicine at U.W.O. In addition, John developed a full clinical practice and served as Vice-President and Medical Director of the London Life Insurance Company, from which position he retired in 1992. For many years, he was actively involved in the Canadian Medical Association and the Ontario Medical-Association. Aside from his professional accomplishments, John was a devoted cottager for 25 years at Kerrydale on Lake Muskoka arid for the last twelve years, on Lake Kawagama, where he pursued a life-long enjoyment of boating, sailing and swimming, and of course, taking Margaret fishing. He particularly enjoyed sharing the cottage experience with his grandchildren, and many friends who were glad recipients of John's cottage hospitality. John b en efited from e xce lle n t m edical care th ro u g h o u t h is battle w ith m u ltip le m yelom a, g e n e ro u sly p ro vid e d by ca rin g and talented colleagues in the health care field.
