LHS Passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the age of ninety, surrounded by her loving family, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Dearly loved and cherished wife of Dr. J. Robert McCarney, to whom she was married for nearly sixty-one years. She was a loving and devoted mother of James (Laurie), Christopher (Alison), Bob (Terri), Peter (Denise), Paul (Suzanne), and Mary (George). Adored grandmother of twelve and stepgrandmother of seven, all of whom she was immensely proud. The six dogs she lovingly raised over many decades were blessed to be by her side always. Raised in Toronto, Bertha graduated from the University of Toronto (St. Michael's College), earning a B.A. in 1948. She graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1952. After Bob and Bert were married in 1955, she devoted herself to raising their six children, creating a wonderful home life at their longtime current house in Oakville, and at the cottage on Long Point, Balsam Lake. Bertha was a parishioner of St. Andrew Church in Oakville for fifty-nine years, a member of the Catholic Women's League, a Lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, and was a dedicated volunteer with many organizations over the years. She and Bob were always supportive of one another, and were true partners throughout their long and happy marriage. Her keen intellect and wonderful sense of humour were greatly appreciated by her family and many friends, and we are grateful those qualities, along with her deep faith, remained with her throughout her entire life. Bert/ Mom/Grandma was a prominent figure in the lives of her family members, and she will be forever loved and missed beyond measure. McMANUS, Thomas Passed away peacefully at the age of 90 in Oakville on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Born May 26, 1925 in Birtley County Durham, England. Beloved husband of Joan for 64 years. Towards the end of the second world war Tom trained in Canada as a member of the British Fleet Air Arm. Canada left a lasting impression on Tom so much so that he, Joan and the girls all emigrated here in 1968. Tom trained as an engineer and later started his own import brokerage. Tom loved to travel and during the latter part of his career he and Joan travelled the world extensively. WEBB, Donald Keith "Skeeter" February 18, 1936 - February 12, 2016 Skeeter passed away peacefully on Friday morning February 12, 2016 at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital at age 79. He has resided at Tansley Woods Long Term Care since 2014. His light and laughter charmed all who knew him. Skeeter was born February 18, 1936 in Oakville. Loving father of Donnie, Michael and Angela Webb, grandfather of Genevieve, Carter, Tanner, and Reese, and great-grandfather of Agathe; he will be sadly missed by his friends and siblings John (Sharleen), Wendy (Ken), and Susan (Al), and his mother Audrey. He spent 37 years with Bell Canada and formed many life long friendships there. After retiring in 1991 Skeeter built a cottage for his family at Lake Rosseau in Muskoka. In his younger years Skeeter loved both stock cars and hockey and split his passion between racing and Oakville community sports and the music of that time has stuck with him all his life. Skeeter really was the proverbial "nice guy" that everyone loved. He was quick to laugh and loved to share a joke. He loved to be involved and get others involved. In his short time at Tansley Woods he warmed and charmed the staff and made many friends there. Skeeter was the floor's resident spokesperson and participated in every activity and recruited other residents to do the same. He was a unique and special man. We will all miss him.
