Upon arrival to the registration area on the second floor, patients and families are greeted with large, bright registration areas with comfortable waiting rooms furnished with a television, and a fireplace. Both the Operating Rooms and the Ambulatory Procedures unit have been equipped with lots of change-rooms, patient preparation rooms, procedure rooms, stretcher bays, as well as a pediatric playroom, and spacious patient and family areas ­ all designed to optimize patient flow and ensure patient safety, care and privacy. Your Health Patient preparation room in the Ambulatory Procedures Unit MARCH 2016 The Ambulatory Procedures Unit provides a wide range of surgical and diagnostic procedures across a number of specialties. These include: ophthalmology surgery (cataract eye surgery), cystoscopy procedures which examine the urinary system and colonoscopies used to diagnose colorectal cancer. With a strong focus on family-centred care throughout our new facility, this area provides comfortable areas and amenities for patients and their families. This spring the Ambulatory Procedures Unit is introducing a Gastrointestinal Motility Program at OTMH. This new program will provide testing to assist with the diagnosis and development of treatment plans for disorders related to how food is processed through the digestive system. Surgical Services (Operating Rooms) With seven state-of-the art Operating Rooms and abundant room for future growth, we offer a wide range of surgeries at OTMH including: general, pediatric, orthopedic, gynecology, vascular, maxillofacial, urology, ear, nose and throat (ENT), and plastic surgery. In addition to the Operating Rooms, this area is equipped with a three bay anesthesia block room, a fourteen bay post­anesthesia recovery room and a large sterile core which houses the surgical supplies and instruments required for surgery.
