The students spent the school day at their future high school and experienced a conference with workshops designed to prepare these future trailblazers for success at IRHS next September. The day began with IRHS students, clad in bright blue shirts, greeting guests before they registered, receiving a name tag, schedule, school map and assigning a team colour. Once inside the school theatre, students broke into groups according to team colour and had a chance to interact with Grade 8s from different schools and Link Crew Leaders. The Link Crew Leaders are senior IRHS students who will be helping the future Grade 9s in the transition to high school next fall. Ron Duberstein, a Link Crew leader who participated in BRidge Day, described the conference as, "a celebration of the introduction of new members to the Ridge." Grade 8 students got to see the student-run organizations in action all day. The day began with an introduction as the principals welcomed the future class of 2020. Link Crew Leaders explained how they would be a resource to students next fall. Ms. Patterson, the school's student success coordinator and supervisor of Student Voice, spoke about the wonderful opportunities students would receive. Link Crew Leaders then escorted students to various locations in the school to do some quick icebreakers. Students played a game of Ninja or Human Knot before the keynote presentation and workshops. The games were meant to engage students from different schools to work as a team, help them feel more comfortable so they could make new friends in the day. Later in the gym, Martin Paul and Tanicia Reedon from Free The Children gave the keynote presentation called Give Where You Live.
